UNPACKING THE IMPACT OF 2020/21 EMIGRATION & TAX LAW CHANGES
SOUTH AFRICANS WORKING ABROAD WEBINAR
The amended South African “expatriate” tax law is now in full effect as of 1 March 2020. Furthermore, Government has proposed the phasing out of certain exchange control regulations from 1 March 2021 which will effectively trap one’s pension fund in South Africa for a minimum period of three year’s after emigrating.
But, what does this mean and where do you start? Unsure if you are truly affected by #ExpatTax2020 or how you will be impacted by the proposed #Emigration changes?
With time running out before the 2019/20 Tax Season closes, we are heeding the call from South Africans working abroad who indicated the need for more expert insight and commentary, by launching a unique webinar on the underlying impact of Expat Tax 2020 and the proposed emigration changes. This will include the feedback received from National Treasury following Tax Consulting South Africa’s oral submissions in Parliament on 7 October 2020.
After traveling to various countries worldwide to present on Expat Tax 2020, Jonty Leon (Legal Manager at Tax Consulting SA) will guide a focused discussion on these topics and will be joined by Thomas Lobban (LLM and Co-Author of LexisNexis Expatriate Tax textbook). The overall purpose of the webinar is to clear up the misinformation that exists in the market and on social media, while addressing your burning questions and ensuring you remain expertly informed and appropriately prepared for the various South African Emigration & Tax law changes.
